Yakumo Tsukamoto (塚本 八雲 Tsukamoto Yakumo?) is a character in the manga/anime series School Rumble.

The shy younger sister of Tenma Tsukamoto, Yakumo was born with a variety of gifts. Not only she is able to read the thoughts of boys who like her (and also her sister), but further in the story it is shown that she also has the ability to communicate with ghosts. She also has innate fighting skills, despite her calm demeanor, and has put such skills in use in a few occasions such as against Haruki Hanai (when she read him calling Tenma a klutz and when he tried to kiss her while she was taking a nap).

Skilled, reliable, smart, and beautiful, Yakumo is one of the most admired girls in the school. Despite that fact, she has never had a boyfriend. This is due mostly to her mind-reading ability, as she can easily read the secret intentions of any boy who tries to approach her. She can also read her sister's mind as well as her pet cat Iori. The only exception is Kenji Harima, whose heart belongs completely to another girl; thus, his mind is completely opaque to her (During the OVA, Yakumo was able to read his mind for an instant, when he mistook her for his beloved Tenma).

Due to her multi-talented abilities, she is scouted by various school clubs, but she refuses to join any of them because of Hanai who persistently followed her. However thanks to Akira Takano banning him from joining, she is now a member of the Tea Club, along her best friend Sarah Adiemus. She socialises very little with other teens and adults (especially the male ones), though Yakumo can easily interact with children and animals (dogs are an exception), quickly gaining their trust and affection.

Like Harima, Yakumo has a fondness for animals and she becomes friends with him because of his caring nature towards her cat, Iori, and towards animals in general. Yakumo also proofreads Harima's manga for him and helps keep his manga writing hobby a secret.

Yakumo develops deeper feelings for Harima than just the master-apprentice relationship, but she keeps her feelings hidden as she knows he is in love with her sister Tenma. To her, Tenma is the most important person in the world and she wanted to make her happy by supporting her relationship with Harima, even at the expense of her own feelings. Another reason for Yakumo to get along well with him is because he resembles her father--at least from the backside.

Though both sisters live in the same house, Yakumo is the one who does most of the household chores as Tenma is a complete failure in the kitchen and at almost everything else. But Yakumo doesn't care as she knows her older sister is one of the few people who truly cares about her.

She seems to admire her father a lot, as seen in flashbacks of her childhood. It's unknown what happened to him, but it's probable that he died when she was still a child and since then she has been living alone with her sister.

Harima usually calls Yakumo with an alternate nickname "Imouto-san (妹さん)" (Little sister).
