The Yakovlev Yak-4 (Service names Yak-4, BB-22 (Ближний бомбардировщик, "Blizhnij Bombardirivschik", "short range bomber") was a Soviet bomber aircraft, a development of the Ya-22/Yak-2.
Used more powerful engines than predecessors. Gunner/bomber position right behind pilot's turret was not retractable any more. It was a fast, good-looking light bomber, but too vulnerable for ground-attack missions. The few built were later used for night missions and high-altitude reconnaissance. Two seats. Two M-105R. 1941. 90 were built.
