Yak (game)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yak is a numeric betting game that consists of completing a 15-number card by extracting numbers from a transparent box.

[edit] Gameplay

The numbers that are read out are in the boxes, which are located on the control tables. The boxes are closed and have a camera inside so that everyone can see the numbered ball that is in play at all times. By means of a computer, the announcer gives the instruction to choose a new ball, which is then held in a compartment so that the camera can film it and transmit the image to the projectors and screens. The scorecards are distributed throughout the room so that everyone has full visibility of the numbers that are being called out, as well as a clear view of those that have already been announced, the price of the card, the number of cards sold that are playing, and the amounts of the prizes.

[edit] Winning the game

There are two ways to win:

  • Line: The first person to complete a horizontal line on the card containing five numbers, wins.
  • Yak: The first person to match all 15 numbers on the card wins. Additionally, if all 15 numbers are matched before the 40th number is pulled from the box, that person wins the Jackpot, which is a fund to which a percentage of the sale of each game is paid.
