Yabbying

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yabbying is a popular pasttime in Australia, involving fishing for yabbies. Although yabbies are always crayfish, the exact variety of crayfish varies regionally (including the same word being used for different species of freshwater crayfish).

In a freshwater environment yabbies are commonly caught in creeks, rivers, and farm dams.

Equipment can vary widely from a simple piece of string with bait on one end, to a wide variety of traps either commercially manufactured or home-made.
