Yüksekova

Yüksekova (Kurdish Gawar; Assyrian Gawar)is a district of Hakkari Province of Turkey, situated close to the border with Iran. Yüksekova was the scene of clashes between protesting Kurds and Turkish riot police in 2006. [1]

Among Kurds and Assyrians, the region is called "Gawar" or "Gever"
