XWIS

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

XWIS stands for the XCC WOL IRC Server and is a game server for the Command and Conquer series of games produced by Westwood and published by EA Games. XWIS was created as an alternative game server by members of the Red Alert 2 Community in response to the lack of moderation on the official servers, which had culminated in cheaters controlling the WOL Ladder. XWIS does not condone cheating and anyone who encounters a cheater is encouraged to report them to Strike Team, the moderators of XWIS. If found guilty of cheating the offender is initially banned for 16 days, rising to 32 days for a second offense. Any further cheating beyond that leads to a permanent ban.

In mid-2005 XWIS became the official server for a variety of the Command and Conquer series and all responsibility for the servers was passed on to Strike Team. So far, the transfer has proven to be very successful.

[edit] Strike team

The Strike Team are the moderators of the XWIS server. The team consists of people from around the world who provide support for C&C games and the XWIS server. They also analyze cheat reports submitted by the community, reset the cheaters on the XCC Community Ladder [XCL], and ban the proven cheaters from online play. The members of the Strike Team are known by their online nicknames.
