- Ack! Someone has put some sort of horrific apparition on my talk page! Some sort of foul, distorted, monstrous, semi-human yellow head with receding brow and evil leer! This grotesque gargoyle can only be intended to strike fear into my heart. But I shall remain firm; I shall not be intimidated by these vile yellow demons, nor those who come bearing them! -- Xtifr

[edit] Guitarists or musicians
Re: previous conversations regarding cross project sharing. Someone, not me, tagged Buddy Holly as a guitarist project page. Certainly he played guitar. And just about every picture of him shows him playing a Stratocaster. But "guitarist" doesn't really cover it well. I was considering rm'ing the guitarist template altogether. But I would like to co-ordinate the change so that the Biography box gets updated with the musician project add-in. Also, Buddy could do with your new and improved Musician box to replace the current celebrity box. That way, at least, the Stratocaster use can be included. Are you busy or is this something you have time for? Let me know your thoughts. Cheers Anger22 15:03, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks for taking the time on the Buddy Holly article(pending). I didn't really have time to reflect on the last series of comments on the WPG talk page. I was hoping others would express some thoughts so we could move forward, together...working for one positive goal which is...as you put it..."overall quality of Wikipedia". I can't say anymore as to my thoughts on "inter-article consistency" that I haven't already expressed. 3 Beatles have musician boxes...1 has a "G" box. 3 Led Zeppelin members have(or will have) musician boxes....1 has a "G" box etc. Which is, I believe, how it should be. I am certainly for expansion of the current guitarist infobox...MINUS...the colours. Why...already this week it's been expanded to include an image caption....Oooooooo WOW!!!(sarcasm!). It's not much...but right now key project members(incl. myself) are either on Wikibreak...or busy with other Wiki issues so we don't have much input as to on what to to with it next. I, for one wouldn't mind seeing a "other occupations" line in it. Not so much to include other mucial instruments played but more along the lines of producer or film director or...whatever. Jeff "Skunk" Baxter is not only an famous guitarist...he is also an anti-terrorism expert for the US gov. Steve Morse is not just an amazing guitarist...he is also an airline pilot. The current infobox has no place for including that. But maybe it could? Before any further changes are made I would like to wait for Andy, the admin who created the guitarist project, to come back into the fold. He is currently on a much needed Wiki-break due to very important personal issues that, of course, are much more important than this little hobby. Maybe once he returns we can then set a path on what to do next. Cheers and take care....and again...thanks for "Buddy". Anger22 18:50, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Disambiguation Talk Request
This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. I recently left a proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Before it can be approved or denied, I would prefer a lot of feedback from multiple participants in the project. So if you have the time please join in the discussion to help improve the WikiProject. Keep up the good work in link repair and thanks for your time. Nehrams2020 22:04, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Infoboxes - ALL OUT WAR!!
Just kidding. I'd like to put this behind us, because it's taking time from my actually working on articles, which is what I'm here to do. I am discussing with Anger22, as it is important to have him on board since he is a very active member of the Guitarists project. In the end I think you have convinced me that we can probably use the musicians template without a problem (however, my opinion is just one voice in a crowd). We might ask that there be an option not to include color, and maybe add soundbyte as an optional field. --Aguerriero (talk) 15:05, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Unconditional love
I have stubified this article. Since this addressed your objections, as well as those of the anonymous user who initially prodded the article, I have deprodded it. If there's still a problem, feel free to submit it to WP:AFD, but I think that the article as it stands is fine, although a minimal stub. --N Shar 01:33, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] AFDs and "vanity"
Regarding AFDs, just a friendly note to point out that the use of "vanity" is now discouraged. Instead please use "apparent Conflict of interest" per WP:COI. Cheers, Jpe|ob 08:14, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Pete carter AfD
Thanks for catching me on my comment. In retrospect, I probably didn't assume as good of faith as I should have. I wasn't intending to bite anyone, but User:Rizzodizzo's comment did seem to imply he was going to try to "votestack" the AfD, and I wanted to make sure that he knew about how the deletion review process works. --JaimeLesMaths (talk|edits) 11:16, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- Not a problem, it was, at worst, a very tiny violation of WP:AGF. But thanks for the followup! :) Xtifr tälk 20:21, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] revert on Template:Infobox musical artist
Hi - I am just wondering the reasons behind your decision to revert my recent edit to Template:Infobox musical artist. Many band pages use band logos as the "band name" field, and these render very badly with a coloured background. DJR (T) 15:08, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for your reply. I presume it might be a UK-band trend - there are countless British band using the logo as a title ([[Coldplay; The Kooks; Kaiser Chiefs; Ash (band); Franz Ferdinand (band) etc. etc. etc.) so its inception is probably a result of some kind of regional evolution. The majority of these pages use the {{Infobox band}} template and therefore don't have an issue, but most would look pretty awful in they were converted. While I appreciate that most inclusions of the template don't use logos, I honestly cannot see how having a coloured background, for the title at least, makes any difference either way - after all the old template had no colours and worked perfectly well. [edit] Re: Vanity
That page is just a guideline, and I do not agree with it. —Xezbeth 08:27, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
As someone who has only been at this for a couple of weeks your advice is welcome. Now that i know what is expected for book reviews, i will be more objective. The summaries i did were not cut and pasted, but they were paraphrased from discussions and fansites i had participated in elsewhere. Sorry and thanks for saving the stubs. Rimmer1993 18:43, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'd like to commend you for your prod-patrolling efforts aswell. Quendus 19:57, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bug in Zorglbot
Hi, thanks again for reporting the bug with dates in User:Zorglbot; I just corrected it (it was a silly "off by one" array index) so we should not see any of these strange dates appearing again. All the best, Schutz 22:28, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My Bad
I know man, I realized it after I was almost finished. I'm AD/HD inattentive to the max! I should have known better, I've been listening and going to Fred Shows since like '98 in Tulsa, their hometown!!! I'm getting it ready to merge. [edit] Reconsider vote for Dr.S. Hussain Zaheer Memorial High School
I would like to ask you to reconsider your creation of the AfD for Dr.S. Hussain Zaheer Memorial High School. With a little bit of research, it is clear that the school is indeed notable, and the additional information has been added to the article with material from the school's web site and several references from The Hindu, India's main national newspaper. With its management and operation by the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, the school has a unique science program that allows students to learn from India's top scientists, and to have heard from several recent Nobel Prize in Chemistry laureates. The school competes in, and has won, at the top levels of sport in the state. I strongly suggest that all those who previously voted to Delete should re-read the article and reconsider their vote. Alansohn 16:08, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Rock singers
Apologies if there was any confusion; the idea is that Category:Rock singers itself is supposed to be completely empty, with every rock singer subcategorized by nationality instead of filed directly in the parent category. I've created Category:Puerto Rican rock singers instead. Bearcat 09:21, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Schwag
can you please explain the tags you added to the page on The Schwag? The information is all on their web site and message board, and I don't understand the notability gripe - they have been around for over 15 years and hosted dozens of festivals where all sorts of commercial artists have played. Runderwo 23:44, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
So the notability issue and the failure to cite objective external references are equivalent in this case? It seems to be irrelevant that they have never released an album, since notability criteria such as 5 and 7 do not require that. Relix magazine does not have their articles online, is an offline citation sufficient? I'm also uncertain why the web site (at least the archive.org version) is not considered a reliable source of information; what do people cite when listing past members of other bands? Also, wouldn't it make more sense to bundle this article with the Schwagstock article rather than delete it? Runderwo 06:50, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 50 years
- Trinity Christian School (Williston, North Dakota) (AfD discussion)
Please express your opinion on the criterion, which I've just boldly removed, at Wikipedia talk:Schools. Uncle G 01:57, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- The criterion is being repeatedly re-added by an editor who asserts that, despite the evidence, your opinion is not the consensus. Uncle G 16:28, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Barnstar
You made a very smart remark on the Applewood Heights Secondary School AFD. I wish more people had your sense. Here, have a barnstar and keep up the good work. - Mgm|(talk) 13:45, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

There's really no call for rudeness to Jeff. His is a perfectly legitimate Wikiphiolosophy, even if it does annoy the hell out of us deletionist scum. Guy (Help!) 17:19, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Notability guideline being developed for malls
You have recently commented on AfDs for Shopping Malls. Please see WP:MALL where there is an ongoing attempt to create a guideline for which malls are deserving of articles. Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks! Edison 07:09, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Broken links
Using the wayback machine sounds like a good idea, I hadn't thought of that earlier. Maybe we should write a page on how to link there? Also, possibly we could employ a bot to replace defunct links with wayback links. (Radiant) 16:49, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Allman article
Cool, thanks for reverting me there. I dunno, the image didn't load for me so I just assumed I broke something. (I was the guy who inspired the whole landscape thing with that Bauhaus picture, BTW.) —Chowbok ☠ 23:39, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
