I studied computer science and now work in a small but fine IT company near Mainz (Germany), mostly doing web application development there using Apache, mod_perl, MySQL and LDAP, mostly on Linux and FreeBSD boxes.

I'm also a (non-professional) writer for Symlink, a Swiss German news site in the style of Slashdot and focused on Open Source, IT politics and data protection. I often needed some hyperlinks for details on some topics and Wikipedia often gave me exactly what I looked for... Maybe I also heard first about Wikipedia on our own news site.
[edit] Wiki experience history
IIRC I had my first Wiki experiences with the Emacs Wiki, the tcsh Wiki, and the POE Wiki. On the last one I also have a Wiki home page. Now my Wiki activity mainly focuses on Wikipedia in German and English as well as our company internal Wiki, a TWiki. :-)
