Xrista

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"A lovely but elusive creature, the Xrista survives mainly on a diet of oil and canvas, migrating randomly between various Atlantic islands and the high mountain regions of the American Southwest. Xristas are sought after for their colorful, lively, humorous, and ironic plumage. The Xrista has carved out a unique role in the crowded and endangered contemporary impressionist environment. Untamed and awkward in youth, Xristas eventually mature into sophisticated, surreal, portraiture. The Xrista is intelligent, territorial, and mates for life. If encountered in the wild, approach with caution, humor, and an underlying sense of sincerity."

Artist Xrista is a young contemporary artist based out of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Although her work is characterized as surrealist portraiture, she often considers it "realistic portraiture of truly surreal people." Xrista is presently producing a series of 12 egg-themed paintings titled THE DOZEN. Her work has been noted in Southwest Art Magazine, THE Magazine, Mobius Magazine, and the Santa Fe New Mexican. She has shown in California, New Mexico, Puerto Rico, and New York City. Her work appears on Trevor Hall's album cover "The Rascals Have Returned", and in the Gotham headquarters of the record label Palms Out Sounds.
