Xicheng District

Beijing's Xicheng District/Precinct (Simplified Chinese: 西城区) (West City District) spans 32 square kilometres, making it the largest portion of the old city (inside the 2nd Ring Road), and has 790,000 inhabitants. Its postal code is 100032.

The Xidan commercial district, Finance Street (Jinrongjie), Beihai Park, Jingshan Park and the famous Zhongnanhai are within its jurisdiction. The popular Houhai bar area is also in Xicheng Precinct. Before the communist takeover, most wealthy merchants and middle-class resides in this precinct.

Additionally, Xicheng Precinct is where one finds the Beijing Zoo and Yuetan Park.

The northwestern stretch of the 2nd Ring Road runs through the precinct.
