Xi Shun
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Xi Shun (born in China, 1951) is a resident of Inner Mongolia and is since January 15, 2005 recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's tallest living man. Measured as 7 ft 8.95 in (236.1 cm) tall at the Chifeng City Hospital, Xi does not have a known growth disorder — unlike the tallest man ever, Robert Wadlow, and the tallest living man claimants, Leonid Stadnyk and Ajaz Ahmed. Stadnik and Ahmed claim a height of 8 ft 4 in (254 cm), but their claims are controversial and not currently accepted by Guinness.
Xi Shun claims to have been of normal height until he was sixteen when he experienced a growth spurt for unknown reasons, and reached his present height seven years later. He was in the army before returning to Inner Mongolia where he works as a herdsman.
