Recognized as readers choice for Outstanding Folk Band for the 2000, 2001 and 2003 in the Sacramento Area Music Awards, Xenophilia has been performing for over ten years. The band's first CD, Cafe of Love, includes guest appearances from Sacramento celebrities including Natalie Cortez and Grub Dog as well as brief appearances by John McCrea and Gabe Neslon of the band Cake.
Singer/songwriter Jason Mraz played several shows with Xenophilia in 2001. There is speculation that Xeno's explanation to Mraz after a gig they played together of the alternative view of 9/11 inspired the 2003 Mraz hit song "The Remedy (I won't worry my life away)".
Xenophilia band leader Xeno is the cousin of the original Steppenwolf bass player George Biando, which he claims sparked his early interest in music. Xeno currently maintains a "strange news" blog frequently rated as one of the most popular non-commercial web sites in the Sacramento area. The site's "Fingerbootyology" pages have drawn world wide attention and contributions.
The Xenophilia web site contains original independent research articles on strange subjects like Aliens, Cryptozoology (Rods, Bigfoot, Chupacabras), UFOs, Crop Circles, the Rife Cancer Cure and other fringe science, plus years of strange news stories from around the world.
