Wyneken is a content-oriented word processor allowing the user to create and manage digital notebooks. Wyneken also allows the creation of PDF presentations, letters, articles, and reports. Wyneken creates highly professional documents in PDF, DVI, HTML, RTF, and Ascii Text.

It is not WYSIWYG but instead uses a markup which allows the user to focus on the content of the document rather than the document layout. It is built on top of LaTeX for professional looking documents and allows the addition of, table of contents, bibliographies, and indexes to documents.

Wyneken is open source software that is released under the terms of the GPL-2. Version 0.4 of the software was released on November 30, 2006. The User's Guide is provided as a pdf on the main site, or as a purchase on lulu.com in book form.

The Wyneken language uses a bbcode style syntax.
