WWME-CA is a class A station in Chicago, Illinois. It is owned by Weigel Broadcasting, which also owns sister stations WCIU and WFBT-CA. The programming mainly consists of classic sitcoms and dramas. Prior to January 1, 2005, Channel 23 was a brokered-time ethnic station (which was the format of WCIU until 1995). That programming now airs on Channel 48, although some ethnic shows still air early on Sunday mornings. The WFBT call letters were transferred to Channel 48, and Channel 23 became WWME. MeTV is also broadcast on digital subchannel 26.2 of WCIU, and offered on Comcast digital cable channel 223, and by various other cable and satellite television service providers.
An old DX photo shows that WWME can trace itself to W23AT, a WFBT translator. The W23AT calls were also used for a low-power music videos station in Mokena, Illinois.
