[edit] Summary
Screenshot from a typical wuxia movie from the 1960s.
This is from Ru Lai Shen Zhang (《如來神掌》1964). a.k.a. "Buddha's Palm".
The actor on the right is Cho Tat Wah. The actress on the left is Yu So Chow. He is transferring qi from his palms to the injured girl on the left in order to save her life. Back in the 1960s, without the help of computer graphic imagery, the qi was rendered as a wiggling beam of energy on the film using hand-drawn animation. Usually these drawings were very sketchy white lines as if the emulsion on the film was scratched off to let light pass through.

The screenshot image linked here is claimed to be used under fair use as:
- it is of much lower resolution than the original (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality)
- the photo is only being used for informational purposes.
- Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it shows the the use of hand-scratching/drawing on the film to make special effects, as discussed in the section adjacent to this image. Zzzzz 21:12, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
