WUSN
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
WUSN 99.5 FM is a country music radio station in Chicago owned by CBS Radio whose parent company is CBS. The station focuses on country music from the 1990's along with current product along with some classic country from the 70's and 80's.
WUSN was owned for years by First Media. In 1992 Infinity would buy WUSN. CBS and Infinity would merge in 1997, making WUSN a CBS owned station. WUSN dominates as a country station and is one of the top ranked country music stations anywhere.
As of August 18, 2006, WUSN is located in the largest media market in the United States with a country-formatted radio station. KMVN (formerally KZLA) in Los Angeles had switched to rhythmic adult contemporary, and there had been no such station in the New York City for three years. It should be noted that this excludes "HD2" subchannels, on which KMVN in Los Angeles and WKTU in New York City currently carry a country format.
That being said, even while KZLA was on the air, WUSN was and still is the largest country radio station in the United States (based on listener cume). WXTU in Philadelphia is the second largest.
