[edit] About Wu Shi academy
In the game series, the academy first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance in the Shaolin monastery as the place where Liu Kang was training and murdered.
In Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade escaped to the Wu Shi Academy through a portal on Shang Tsung's island. There they are honored by Raiden before the academy is attacked by Tarkatan warriors. Also according to the non-canon game Shaolin Monks, the Warrior Shrine from the first Mortal Kombat game is on the grounds of the Wu Shi Academy, and the mysterious warrior Ermac lurks there waiting for a challenger, however, according to the canon plot, it is located on Shang Tsung's Fortress Island.
