WTMO-LP is a low-power station serving the Orlando television market, licensed to nearby Kissimmee, Florida. Owned by ZGS Broadcasting, it serves as the market's Telemundo affiliate. It broadcasts on UHF channel 15, and is officially a class A station despite its LP suffix.
Until early 2006 at the latest, WTMO broadcasted on channel 40, but moved to channel 15 shortly before WACX signed on its digital signal on channel 40. Based in Kissimmee, the station is far enough away with a directional pattern towards Kissimmee, so it would not interfere with WCEU, which also broadcasts on channel 15. As a result, the station's coverage area only covers Kissimmee, with the rest of the Orlando area receiving the station via cable. In late 2006, ZGS acquired WDYB-LP channel 28 in Daytona Beach, WMVJ-LP channel 29 in Melbourne, and WPXG-LP channel 31 in Orlando from Tiger Eye Broadcasting; these stations will be used to expand WTMO's over-the-air reach.[1]
WTMO produces its own six o'clock newscast every weeknight, with some content using the resources of WESH channel 2.[2]
