Wrocław-Fabryczna
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wrocław-Fabryczna is one of the 5 administrative boroughs of Wrocław, Poland. Fabryczna (meaning in English industrial) is located in the western part of the city, south of the Odra river. It is Wrocław's largest borough, and some of the crucial industrial facilities are located there.
[edit] Flood of 1997
Wrocław-Fabryczna was severely damaged in its northern part during the flood in 1997, especially in the quarter Kozanów. The whole quarter remained flooded for two weeks. Food and medicines were supplied to its inhabitants with the help of military services. What seems to be curious is that the largest river which flows through the city, Odra, was not the main cause of the disaster. The quarter stayed under water because of a small river which enters Odra in the proximity of Kozanów, named Bystrzyca.
