[edit] Usage

The {{WPFC}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the Former Countries WikiProject. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. The full syntax is as follows:

General parameters:

  • class – a rating of the article's quality; see Wikipedia:WikiProject Former countries/Assessment for more details. Valid values are:
    • FA - The article has reached Featured article status.
    • A - Could be submitted as a Featured article candidate; probably could use some small updates to make it Featured quality.
    • GA - The article has reached Good article status.
    • B - Could be submitted as a Good article nominee; probably could use some updates or may lack some features from the Good article criteria, but it presents a good overview of the subject.
    • Start - The article is more than a stub, but may lack some important aspects of the topic's discussion.
    • Stub - The article is a stub; it likely contains one of the former countries stub templates.
    • Needed - The article does not yet exist but has been identified as a subject that should be covered OR the article is currently just a redirect.
    • NA - The page is not an article and should not be rated. This class has a number of sub-categories:
      • Cat - Category
      • Dab - Disambiguation
      • Structure - Categories formed by WPFC infoboxes
      • Template - Templates such as infoboxes and navbars
      • List - Pages containing only a list of some sort

Maintenance parameters (set it to "yes" to include it):

To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template.

[edit] Notes

  • Please use lowercase forms.. The uppercase forms generally do not work.
  • A few redlink categories need fixing to get the Portal / Review functions working.
  • The image request feature is listed "below the fold" when used. If people feel this is a problem, please let me know.
  • Please report any other errors if you see them.

[edit] Credit where it is due

This template is largely based on the excellent {{WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology}}, {{WPBeatles}} and {{WP Australia}} banners.
