World Union of Jewish Students
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS; pronounced /wudʒɘs/) is the international, pluralistic, non-partisan roof organisation comprising around 50 national independent Jewish Student Unions from all over the world, founded in 1924, with Albert Einstein as its first president.
The WUJS Institute, a study program for Jewish college graduates located in Arad, Israel, was established in the 1970s. The WUJS Arad Institute currently runs study programs twice a year, with main emphasis on Hebrew Language study and courses on Jewish and Israel topics. WUJS Arad also offers a specialized residency track for Jewish artists and the Peace and Social Justice track, which offers opportunities for internship placement in Israeli organizations related to peace and social justice. The WUJS Arad Institute is independent today from the main Jewish headquarters. WUJS Arad is currently affiliated with Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization, based in the US.
The headquarters of WUJS are located in Jerusalem, and its current Executive Director is Jonny Cline.
