World Soccer Daily
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
World Soccer Daily is a radio show established in 2002 and hosted by Nick Geber and Steven Cohen. The hosts talk about a range of topics related to soccer, but occasionally dicuss current events. It is a call-in show, and so rarely follows any fixed program, but the English Premier League is usually the most talked about topic of discussion.
World Soccer Daily airs Monday-Friday from 1 PM until 3 PM (EST) on Channel 125 of Sirius radio. It can also be heard on Big Soccer Radio Network or Real Player radio. iTunes and podcast.com are sources for podcasting. It is currently the most popular soccer radio program in the United States. Geber and Cohen also host a popular live TV show Fox Football Fone-in, currently airing Tuesday nights 8 PM to 10 PM (EST) on Fox Soccer Channel.
Cohen, a supporter of Chelsea Football Club and Geber, a supporter of Liverpool Football Club are well-known for, amongst other things for their stern criticism of Major League Soccer, USA international midfielder Landon Donovan (whom they typically refer to as "Dandy Landy," "Landycakes," or "Primadonovan"), and ESPN's lead announcer for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Dave O'Brien. In the past they have said they are somewhat casual supporters of Chivas USA due to the passion of their fans and the front office.
[edit] History
At one time the World Soccer Radio Network featured other programs, including The 2 G's, a soccer show hosted by Graham Bell and Gary "Gazza" Richards, and The Treble, hosted by Diana Rosa Germano, Nicolle, and Jennifer Robertson, but these programs are no longer associated with World Soccer Daily.
