World Literacy Crusade (WLC) is a non-profit group fighting illiteracy formed in 1992 by the Rev. Alfreddie Johnson.[1] The group utilizes "study technologies" and "drug rehabilitation technologies" developed by L. Ron Hubbard, the pulp-fiction author that originated the religion of Scientology. WLC has been criticized for being a deceptive marketing tool intended to get Scientology programs into schools without disclosing its close ties with the Church of Scientology.[2]
