The World Karate Federation, or WKF, is the international governing body of the sport of karate. It is the only karate federation recognised by the International Olympic Committee, and it has more than ten million members. The WKF organizes the Junior and Senior Karate World Championships, which are each held every other year. In October 2006, the WKF Karate World Championships were held in Tampere, Finland.
