Since 1997 it offers a convenient place on the web to gather and share information and independent views on projects and approaches, past, present and planned future, freely and easily available to all comers.
World CarShare is an informal shared public interest consortium created under The Commons: Open Society Sustainability Initiative and the New Mobility Agenda as a shared information platform for cities, citizens, and carshare operators world wide, and specifically to serve potential start-ups, policy makers, local government partners, researchers, public interest groups, cooperating transporters, concerned citizens, and others interested both to learn more about carsharing and how it works, as well as covering latest developments in the field internationally.
World CarShare has from the beginning been organized as a Self-Organizing Collaborative Networks, based on continuing active participation of the more than four hundred leading practitioners, researchers, groups and others who together constitute the leading edge of carshare developments world-wide.
