From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World's Longest Cricket Marathon is a world record that is held by Cheriton Fitzpaine Cricket Club in Devon, England (ratified by Guinness World Records on 19 September 2006) standing at 27 hours 34 minutes, set on 24 and 25 June 2006. It was previously held by Cricket Club des Ormes in France.

The record is the amount of cumulative playing time, after breaks are discounted, of a continuous game of Cricket. Breaks are limited to 5 minutes per 1 hour of playing time. There are two teams and these teams are limited to 12-a-side (11 on the field plus one "sub"). No player is permitted to leave the ground unless they are incapacitated.

Citipointe Church of Brisbane, Australia have potentially broken this record. This attempt was made on the 10 and 11 June 2006, in very wet conditions. Raising money for tsunami victims, the teams played for a total of 34 hours at Griffith University, Mt. Gravatt. This is an unofficial record and evidence of this attempt has been sent in to Guinness World Records for verification.
