Workweek

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The legal workweek varies from nation to nation, and its definition is usually heavily influenced by the predominant religion of the country, or by colonial history. Most countries in Europe, the Americas, and East Asia have a business week defined as Monday through Friday.

The legal work week in the Middle East is either Saturday through Wednesday (as in Algeria[1] and Saudi Arabia[2]), Saturday through Thursday (as in Iran[3],[4]) or Sunday through Thursday (as in Egypt[5] and Israel).

For information regarding the development of the 40-hour, 5-day workweek see the working time article.
