Work Is Death

Work Is Death is the title of an episode of the MTV animated series Beavis and Butt-Head.

At the beginning of the episode, Beavis is attempting to separate frozen hamburger patties at the grill of Burger World, and causes himself great pain attempting to separate two patties using an amateur karate chop. They are then confronted by the Burger World manager, who requests he stay out of trouble, as the restaurant cannot afford to give out any more workers compensation for injuries. After explaining the concept to Beavis and Butt-Head, he leaves them. They, however, are extremely intrigued by the concept, and Butt-Head proceeds to offer to injure Beavis, to which he gives consent.
After being viciously attacked by Butt-Head, Beavis struggles to reach the till to respond to a waiting customer (Mr. Graham). After he reaches the till, he quickly leaves, much to the frustration of the customer, to tell Butt-Head that he still not beyond the ability to work. The latter decides to "finish the job" using a heavy frying pan, creating such a noise as to get the attention of the Burger World manager. Frustrated, he explains that they will not receive any compensation for fighting, and it will only apply to accidents. With this new data, they attempt to make a number of accidents, causing some injury to Beavis but more or less leaving him unharmed.
While the title characters are attempting to complete their goal by attempting to coax a customer at Burger World's drive-thru to hit Beavis with his car, their employer discovers a massive mess made in the kitchen. He then slips on a sauce spill, accidentally touches the grill with both hands, steps into a mop bucket and tumbles to the floor, presumably injuring his back. Beavis and Butt-Head confront him, angry at his apparent theft of their idea. He attempts to attack them, but ultimately is unable.
