WordArt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
WordArt is a feature found in versions of Microsoft Word. It allows users to create extremely stylized text with various special effects, including shadows, gradient fills, textures, outlines, and many others.
While many users find it to be a very useful tool, others criticize it for being extremely annoying and repetitive, usually offering extremely amateurish looking results. While there are legitimate purposes, it is often mis- or over-used; for example, using a WordArt title for major school assignments is generally not good form, especially for formal papers and the like. Many programmers and computer experts refuse to use WordArt at all because of this.
Similar capabilities exist in other programs; StarOffice/OpenOffice.org has an equivalent feature in more recent versions, and The GIMP's Script-Fu is somewhat similar (although often used for different purposes). OpenOffice.org's version is called FontWork.
