Wonogiri

Wonogiri Regency (Indonesian: Kabupaten Wonogiri) is one of regencies located in the southeastern of Central Java province.

Geographic
The area of Wonogiri Regency approximately 1822.3602 kmĀ² with it boundaries surrounded by Pacitan Regency and Ponorogo Regency in the east, Pacitan Regency and Indian Ocean in the south, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Province and Klaten Regency in the west, Sukoharjo Regency and Karanganyar Regency in the north.
Topographic
Most of Wonogiri's area is rocky and hilly due to its location on Sewu highlands. Since this highlands type is karst, many caves can be found easily in Wonogiri Regency and at least 41 (forty one) caves has been discovered so far starting from the famous one like Song Gilap cave, Song Putri cave at Pracimantoro, Ngantap cave, Putri Kencana cave at Giritontro until scaterred unnamed caves all over regency.
Wonogiri also has a dam called Gajahmungkur dam which has three main functions: for power plant to produce electricity; to provide water for rice fields around Bengawan Solo river through irrigations program; and for tourism purpose.
