This comic could probably be referenced alongside "Married To The Sea." They have a similar idiosyncratic way of creating content (adding text to 19th century monographs), and Wondermark's comic #29 includes a drawing of a woman with some kind of circle on her stomach which has also been used in the Married to the Sea comics. perhaps this comic, started in 2003, had somethign to do with the inspiration of Married to the Sea, started 2006.
