[edit] Overview

In 2003, McGrath formed a comedy troupe made up of Canadian comediennes to offer a comedic outlook on situations ordinary women face everyday. Shortly after their formation, the troupe agreed on the name "Women Fully Clothed" to emphasize that although the entire comedy cast if composed of women they do not strip down at any time, and that they remain "fully clothed".

Most shows last for 90 minutes (although they can be as short as 20, or as long as 120). Sketches focus on issues that the everyday woman faces with a comedic twist In one sketch, Kathy Greenwood and Teresa Pavlinek play as pioneers working their way through the Canadian wilderness. In another, Debra McGrath, Jayne Eastwood, and Robin Duke play mourners at their friends funeral to later found out their deceased friend was actually a closeted lesbian.

Disclaimers are made by each cast member during the show to emphasize that the show is not about male-bashing. Men are encouraged to come to the show as well, although a significant majority of their audience are women.

Women Fully Clothed was featured in the 2006 Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, Quebec. [1] They were also nominated for Best Sketch Troupe at the 6th Annual Canadian Comedy Awards in 2005.[2] Eugene Levy calls them "the five funniest women in Canada." [3]

Women Fully Clothed currently only tours within the province of Ontario. Tickets for the shows usually range between $35 to $75. The troupe is planning and hoping on starting a tour in the United States in the near future.
