WNFZ

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WNFZ, originally 94Z, is a Class A radio station in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The 94.3 signal broadcasted country as WETQ in the early 1980s. WKNF was 94.3's next set of call letters and broadcasted Easy Listening music to East Tennessee.

The station became WNFZ in late 1993 and has broadcasted a modern rock format ever since. WNFZ was one of the first and most successful modern rock radio stations when the alternative wave hit. The station is owned by Oak Ridge FM, Inc., but is under a local marketing agreement with South Central Broadcasting until 2008.
