WMC (AM)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
WMC is located in the Memphis, Tennessee area and broadcasts at 790 AM.
It is one of the city's oldest radio stations, recently having flipped from SportsRadio to Classic Country. Its current logo is similar to the official shield for U.S. Highway 79; that highway goes through Memphis, albeit concurrently with U.S. Highway 70 and paralleling Interstate 40. WMC even hosts a concert series called "Highway 79".
It is currently owned by CBS Radio, formerly Infinity Broadcasting. Entercom Communications announced its purchase of all three of CBS Radio's Memphis stations, which is currently awaiting FCC approval; however, such approval is contingent on Entercom's divestiture of three stations in Rochester, New York.
