WJBQ (FM 97.9; known as Q97.9 locally) is a radio station in Portland, Maine, United States, which airs a contemporary hit radio format.

Here are the shows the air on Q 97.9.
The Q Morning Show with Meredith, Jeff and Lori airing from 5:30 to 10AM weekdays.
Q Late Lunch Airing from 1 to 2 PM on weekdays, DJ Teddy Mckay plays all of your requests.
Interactive 8 at 8 Airing weekdays at 8 PM, the top requested songs of the day are played. At the end of the countdown, you are given the chance to be caller number 8, and you will recive 2 cds.
Q It or Screw It Airing Monday through Thursday at 9, DJ Rob Steele plays a new song. During the brodcasting, you can call in and either "Q" it or "Screw" it.
Friday Free-For All Airing Fridays at 9, DJ Rob Steele takes all of your requests.
Open House Party Airing Saturday and Sunday from 7 to midnight.

It started out as a rock station WLOB-FM in 1971. In 1974 it became WCDS with a classical format. Then in 1980 WCDS became WJBQ-FM only to become WWGT 6 years later. It became legendary CHR "Great 98" but it only lasted 3 years. It then became WCSO as AC "Coast 98", hot AC "Ocean 98" and later "The Ocean 97-point-9" and then returning to CHR in 1996 as "Q 97.9".
