The Wisconsin Northern Railroad (AAR reporting marks WN), a subsidiary of Progressive Rail, is a relatively new railroad in Wisconsin. On November 3, 2004, Progressive Rail leased a section of former Wisconsin Central Railway track to be operated by Wisconsin Northern. On November 23, 2004, WN's operations were extended with the lease of additional Union Pacific Railroad (formerly Chicago and North Western Railway) tracks.
