Winterthur Group

Winterthur Group is a multinational insurance company founded in Winterthur Switzerland in 1875. Until June of 2006 Winterthur was a Credit Suisse (CS) subsidiary. Now, Paris based AXA Insurance has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Winterthur group from CS for approx 12 billion CHF.

- Spain (AXA are based in Madrid however, while Winterthur have been based in Barcelona.)

Due to the takeover, AXA Insurance will take over the brand name and general supervision of the company.
