Winnemucca Lake

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Winnemucca Lake, located just east of Pyramid Lake in the northwestern portion of the U.S. state of Nevada, was formerly a shallow tule-filled lake and an important stop for migrating waterfowl. Subsequent to the construction of Derby Dam in 1902, the first project of the Reclamation Act, on the Truckee River, and Nevada State Route 447 which blocked the slough connecting it to Pyramid Lake, Winnemmucca Lake dried out and has been dry since the late 1930s.
