The Microsoft "Driver Development Kit" (DDK) is a software toolset from Microsoft that enables the development of device drivers for the Microsoft Windows platform.

The Microsoft DDK includes documentation, samples, a build environment, and tools.

The DDK is replaced with the release of Microsoft Windows Vista by a new product called the Windows Driver Kit (WDK). The WDK includes all the features and functionality of the DDK along with an automted test engine, the Driver Test Manager (DTM) which replaces the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility Kit (HCT). The WDK also will replace the Microsoft Installable File System Kit and Display Compatibility Kit.
