Windows Address Book
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Windows Address Book (WAB) is a component of Microsoft Windows operating systems that lets users keep a single list of contacts that can be shared by multiple programs. It is most commonly used by Microsoft Outlook Express.
The Windows Address Book API can query LDAP servers or read/write data to a local .WAB file. .WAB files are typically found in "C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\".
One should not confuse the address book used in Microsoft Outlook Express with that used in Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft Outlook does not use the Windows Address Book. Instead it stores addresses in .pst files.
In Windows Vista, the Windows Address Book is replaced by a new tool called Contacts.
