Winchester, Ontario

Winchester is a small town in Eastern Ontario, located south of Ottawa, near Winchester Springs, South Mountain and Chesterville, in the township of North Dundas, Ontario, and part of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry United Counties, Ontario.

It is mainly a farming town with the largest cheese processing plant in Canada, Parmalat, located in it. In August Winchester hosts a festival known as Dairyfest. It has a population of approximately 2500, an impressive variety of protestant churches, a weekly newspaper, The Winchester Press, and an Ontario Provincial Police station. Winchester is also home to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital which serves most of Dundas County.

Winchester has a variety of sports teams as well. The Winchester Hawks (Jr.B hockey), the North Dundas Demons (minor hockey), and the Winchester Red Sox (Tier II Baseball).

It is also the birthplace of gospel musician George Beverly Shea.
