[edit] History

The Wilton Mall at Saratoga was developed by Wilmorite; it opened in 1990, anchored by Addis & Dey's, JCPenney, and Sears. Steinbach would later arrive as a fourth anchor. The older Saratoga Mall, located right next door, was quickly robbed of its stores and started to lose tenants. Montgomery Ward had planned to move from Saratoga Mall to Wilton Mall in the 1990s; this new 82,000 sq. ft. store would never materialize. (See "Trivia", below.) The older Saratoga Mall has since been torn down and re-devloped.

[edit] Trivia

  • The mall has room for a fifth anchor store. This fifth anchor slot was intended for Montgomery Ward, which was previously located at the neighboring Saratoga Mall. Ward's never moved into Wilton Mall, because the existing Saratoga Mall store was closed in a round of closings in 1998. Later, rumors were circulating that Boscov's would become Wilton Mall's fifth anchor. However, officials in the Town of Clifton Park convinced Boscov's to build a store at Clifton Park Center instead. Most recently, Wilton Mall's "ghost anchor" space been recently identified for development of a new, larger JCPenney to replace the existing one.
