Wiltjas are shelters made by the Kaurna people and other Indigenous Australian groups. Wiltjas were like huts but were effective in keeping out beating rain and wind.

The process of making a wiltja was very modern in that the frame was made first with logs and then it was covered with dense leaves. Tricks were used in making the wiltjas like building the door on the north-east side so the south-west gale winds would not get in. Wiltjas are found throughout Australia and are particularly common on the Fleurieu Peninsula as well as in Northern Queensland.
