Wilson White is a fictional character on the American television series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, played by Edward Asner.

[edit] Personal history

White is the chairman of the Tunney Media Group, the parent company of the National Broadcasting System and thus the owner of the show-within-a-show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. His interest in the show is passing at best; indeed, at one point he voices a frustration with all content-producing companies, wishing that he could focus on distribution. He is a shrewd businessman, though, and is clever enough to use his popular shows toward his business objectives.

His current pet project is a bidding wa in the development of Macau, which White says will be built up into "the Las Vegas of Asia." In the pursuit of this objective, White found out that the daughter of a visiting Chinese businessman was a huge fan of Tom Jeter, and he asked that Tom spend some time with her in order to positively influence her judgement, a factor which could be especially important since she acted as her father's english translator and thus was right in the middle of all business dealings in America. Unfortunately, Tom Jeter was in police custody in Pahrump, Nevada at the time, but by the end of the ordeal everything had worked itself out.
