Wilhelmina "Willie" Scott is a fictional character from the 1984 film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Willie Scott, who was played by Kate Capshaw, accidentally gets joined up with eminent archeologist Indiana Jones and his kid partner Short Round as together, they discover the mysteries of the Temple of Doom. As Indiana Jones was named for George Lucas' dog Indiana, Willie Scott was named for Steven Spielberg's dog Willie. [1] Her full name, Wilhemina, which is never actually mentioned in the movie, is a nod to the Wilhelm scream, which sound designer Ben Burtt uses once in all the Indiana Jones films. [citation needed]

[edit] Personality

Willie is a complete foil to Raiders of the Lost Ark’s Marion Ravenwood. Willie is snooty, shallow, annoying and generally full of herself. As a famous singer used to a ritzy lifestyle, Willie finds her herself unprepared for the world of Indiana Jones. Despite her capricious nature, Willie is also a hardened survivor of the Depression, who possessed a talent for adapting to any situation she might find herself in. In the movie, Temple of Doom, she managed to save both Indiana Jones and Short Round from eminent danger on two separate occasions.

[edit] Possible return

Spielberg has hinted that Willie, along with Marion, is set to appear in the upcoming Indiana Jones 4. [citation needed]
