Williamsport Elementary School is a public elementary school located in the town of Williamsport, Indiana, and is one of three in Warren County. (The others are Pine Village Elementary and Warren Central Elementary.) It is administered by the Metropolitan School District of Warren County.
[edit] History
In 1927 a two-story building was erected to house the Williamsport school, which prior to consolidation taught students of all grade levels. A gymnasium added in 1959 is still used today. School consolidation and the creation of the MSD of Warren County led to Williamsport's high school students being sent from the fall of 1973 onward to Seeger High School in West Lebanon. Seventh and eighth graders began attending Seeger in the fall of 1977. The former high school's nickname, the "Bingy Bombers", was retained as the basis of the elementary school's mascot, the Bomber.
The original two-story building was demolished in 1980 and the site converted to parking for the school.
