William Vaughan (philanthropist)

William Vaughan was a sixteenth century corn and wheat mill owner, with mills approximately 1 mile from Dartford on the River Darent. In 1569 he had a house built on Dartford High Street which was used to house the poor and in 1576 was one of the founders of Dartford Grammar School.
