William Theophilus Dortch

William Theophilus Dortch (August 23, 1824 – November 21, 1889) was a prominent Confederate politician.
Dortch was born near Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was a member of the North Carolina state legislature from 1852 to 1860.
During the Civil War, Dortch served as a senator from North Carolina in the First Confederate Congress and the Second Confederate Congress from 1862 to 1865.
After the war, he was a North Carolina state senator from 1879 to 1885.
