William Murdoch (poet)

William Murdoch, born 24 February 1823, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, died 4 May 1887, Saint. John, New Brunswick, Canada, was a Scottish-Canadian poet.
Murdoch emigrated to Canada in 1854, aged 31, and was appointed manager of the gasworks on Partridge Island in 1855. He contributed to the Saint John Morning News from 1865, and published Poems and Songs by William Murdoch, 1860, and Discursory Ruminations: a Fireside Drama, 1876.
