William Manning

William Manning (1 December 1763 – 17 April 1835) was a British merchant, politician, and Governor of the Bank of England between 1812 and 1814.
He served as Member of Parliament for Evesham and Lymington. He also worked as a merchant in the West Indies, and invested in the Australian Agricultural Company, and becoming its Deputy Governor. The Manning River in New South Wales, Australia was named after William Manning.
His son, Henry Manning, was ordained as an Anglican clergyman and part of the Oxford Movement, then converted to Catholicism and became Archbishop of Westminster in 1865.
